Career Prep opportunities are for high schools students.
This course is designed to equip students with essential skills for successful work experineces, college and career planning, and financial literacy. The curriculum integrates practical componenets such as resume beulding, interviewing techniques, workplace etiquette, and building strategies, alongside a comprehensive exploration of potential career paths.
JMG is open to students in grades 9 through 12 who meet the eligibility requirements. A student is eligible if: the student is economically disadvantaged, is or has been in foster care, has a disability, faces inequities, underperforms academically, or is identified by the JMG advisory committee.
For freshmen and sophomores, the JMG program is centered around exploration and the development of essential soft skills. Students are introduced to a wide range of career pathways, helping them gain a better understanding of potential career options and the skills necessary for success in various fields. This foundational knowledge allows students to start thinking about their future and begin setting goals for their high school years and beyond.

By participating in the JMG program as a junior or senior, students focus on postsecondary planning, whether it be higher education, training programs, or entering the workforce. In addition to preparing for life after high school, the program provides personalized guidance as students make decisions about their next steps. For 12th graders, JMG offers follow-up services to ensure students have continued support during their first year after graduation. This post-graduation support allows students to stay connected with their JMG specialist.
Evaluate options for career paths focusing on identified personal interests. Prepare finalization of post-secondary plans based on research of chosen career path while exploring alternative options. Determine required education, certification, and/or training needed to pursue a career path based on current trends. Students plan for financial needs to pursue career plans and develop budgeting skills based on chosen career path's salary.
Students in good standing, with instructor approval after completing an application process, can participate in an extended learning opportunity that could be volunteer or paid, in an internship or employment placement. Placements can fall during or after school hours as a case by case determination. This course is a cooperative learning experience between student, employer and instructor as a means to connect aspirations to a plan after high school, which potentially could lead to continued employment after high school. Students are expected to fulfill written work along with their field experience.
